Veterinarians

I was born and raised in San Francisco and moved to Alameda in 2010 with my husband, a native Alamedan. We have two young boys, a lab-pointer cross named Cash, and a cat named Tofu. I received my degree in veterinary medicine from the Royal Veterinary College at the University of London in 2005. I love spending time outdoors. In years past, I was part of a collegiate rowing team. These days, I spend my free time hiking and exploring the Bay Area. I have three 14’ers under my belt: Mt. Shasta, Mt. Whitney, and Mt. Langley. And, I hope to do more! I became the owner of Alameda Pet Hospital in 2020, and I thoroughly enjoy my role serving our amazing clients and patients.

I grew up in Seattle, got my doctorate of veterinary medicine from UC Davis in 2007, and completed an internship at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in New Jersey. I started out as an emergency doctor but since 2010, I have practiced general medicine. I worked at Alameda Pet Hospital from 2014 - 2021 and since that time have practiced in Florida and Hawaii. I have a special interest in feline medicine and dentistry and am particularly fond of grumpy old cats.

I knew I wanted to be a veterinarian at a very young age. I was a collector of unwanted animals, having two dogs, a cat, a duck, a turtle, and three parrots at one point. More than 30 years after receiving my veterinary degree, it is still the career that I love. I attended the University of Pennsylvania for both my undergraduate and veterinary degrees and eventually made my way west. I love the San Francisco Bay Area and enjoy hiking in my spare time. It is with great pleasure that I am joining the Alameda Pet Hospital team.

I grew up surrounded by a bevy of animals—horses, dogs, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs and a budgie. I knew I wanted to work with animals after a school field trip in second grade to Hopkins Marine Station. I’ve spent my veterinary career working in both private practice and at shelters throughout the Bay Area. When I’m not at work, I’m usually walking the Alameda shoreline with my dogs or curled up on the couch reading with the cats. I’m excited to be at Alameda Pet Hospital and I look forward to serving you and your pets.

A Bay Area native, I grew up in Piedmont and graduated from the University of California at Berkeley. After wandering the world a bit, I landed in Southern California for my veterinary degree, attending Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona. Upon graduating in 2009, I moved back to the amazing Bay Area to be closer to home, family and friends. My shih tzu mix, Mini (short for “Filet Mignon”), can usually be found tip tapping around the doctor’s office with me. But when I’m not in the office you’ll find me trekking a mountain, playing soccer, or paddling a canoe out of Encinal Beach with our local Alameda outrigger team, O Kalani Outrigger Canoe Club.
